Lisa Brownlie’s Mettle Case journey started last year…
Lisa was the typical NYC urbanista and
working mom who coveted the conveniences of toting her personal belongings in
“hands free” style. Lisa's mission: Find a backpack that is cool and hot — and
functional.
Lisa’s exhaustive yet fruitless search for just such a backpack had left her
empty handed (i.e. bare backed). How could it be that no such backpack existed?
But just as the quest for the perfect backpack was Lisa’s ultimate dream, the
creation of the Mettle Case “Intercorset” was Lisa’s true destiny. Lisa took
matters into her own hands and designed the perfect Rocker Chic backpack herself
-- calling it a "Mettle Case" to honor the gutsy (slightly nutsy) endeavor.
Lisa wants to "sex up" the backpack’s utilitarian image, so she chose a totally
original shape: an hour glass “corset” silhouette. With silver laces up the
center, the style is suitably called "Intercorset". Handcrafted in USA & made
with the FINEST 100% GENUINE LEATHER.
Its unique and distinguishing function has
two pockets that zip up the sides with leather tassels, instead of one opening
at the top. It also has three smaller outside pockets for smaller essentials.
After several months of tweaking and improving the design, in 2008 the Mettle
Case was finally “borne”. Weighing in at 3 lbs. 5 oz and 17” long, it is a
perfect beauty…
Mettle Case’s designer Lisa Brownlie is a native New Yorker, artist, and mother
of two. She and her husband Desmond, a native Scotsman, live in Chelsea NYC with
their two perfect little beauties -- Sean and Samantha.
